Games Thirst – Amazing Life
This has been in the wild for some time now, and yet another rumor has surfaced.
According to a source close to VG247, Sony will announce a large-scale monetizing scheme for PSN at this year’s E3 taking place in LA next month. This planned unveiling however will not affect current PSN subscribers and the service’s current free aspects.
The hardware giant also plans to give a free game every month to gamers who plan on purchasing the premium service.
“If you work it out, PSN games cost an average of £6-9 each, so over a year you’re basically going to be breaking even,” the source said.
Sony will also announce a streaming music service which will be part of the premium deal at E3, something similar to Spotify. Said service will be able to run in the background while you play games. Also, rumors that cross-game-chat is being reserved only for the premium service and not for free subscribers is not true, the source said.
“I can tell you now, 100 percent, that that’s not the case,” The source uttered.
“There’s nothing in the premium package which will gimp regular PSN users.”
June 15th is when Sony’s presser takes place, and the Premium PSN is said to be a huge part of the conference.
And so time will tell. Take with a grain of salt until then.
