Nintendo Continues To Haul In Millions, Millions!

It’s official, Nintendo has won this generation profit-wise overwhelmingly. I actually think the company can now open its own bank: How about Bank Of Nintendo? No?

Wii Sports Resort, New Super Mario Bros. Wii and Wii Fit Plus have all moved over 10 million units life-to-date according to new numbers released this morning for the period starting April 1st, 2009 to December 31st, 2009.

New Super Mario Bros. Wii was released just last November and has managed to move 10.5 million units, Wii Fit Plus 10.1 million units since last October and Wii Sports Resort over 13.5 million.

Here’s my take: I’ve been disappointed with Nintendo from the onset of this gaming generation; it’s no secret that the giant left out hardcore gamers and made a play for the casual market which has obviously paid off. But something must be done to regain our trust; I still have faith in Nintendo.

Staggering numbers btw.

I’m with you on this they ditched the hardcore gamer this time around. It’s good news for nintendo but I think with there next console they’ll focus 50/50 on both the casual and hardcore gamer. When the next consoles come around motion controls will be nothing new and I don’t see nintendo coming up with something as big as motion controls were for them with the wii. So I think it will be smart for them to have the wii sports etc with better pin point precision and super beefy hardware to satisfy the hardcore gamer that will appreciate the benefits of not just graphics but AI, physics etc…

If Nintendo manages to include all what you mentioned, then I think the company will have a winner in Wii HD on its hand.

    Good points Mighty!

Yes they definetly ditched the hardcore gaming market for kids and family but they are making millions from that decision so it wasn’t too bad of a business decision but can you just imagine if next gen if they bring out a console with the power and graphics of MS and Sony it will be scary how well that could sell with all these people that own a wii and would most likely upgrade to Nintendo’s next gen console. Personally I don’t play wii unless with friends or at a party I just don’t like waving my arms around for hours but there are millions of people eating it up. I can’t wait to see Nintendo’s next gen console.
