Super Mario Bros. Wii Sells Well Past 10 Million Copies

I remember late last year when Reggie Fils-Aime of Nintendo America told Geoff Keighley that if he [Geoff] could give him until the Q1 then he’s sure that Super Mario Bros. Wii will surpass Modern Warfare 2 sales on PS3.

Um, Super Mario Bros. Wii has done exactly that and much more; the power of Nintendo’s on display once again folks, those numbers are just wild.

According to a report from Nikkei, Nintendo’s confirmed its latest Mario title, Super Mario Bros. Wii has managed to sell over 10 million copies worldwide.

According to NPD, the platformer sold roughly 3.8 million copies in the US alone, a number that must have gone up substantially by now.

The game is unstoppable in all nations, beating out the popular Final Fantasy XIII in Japan, selling over 2.4 million units over there.

It’s a great experience so it’s good to see so many people enjoying it. If you own a Wii, you should own Super Mario Bros. Wii, it’s that simple.
