According to new reports, Spider-Man 4 has been ultimately halted due to “clashes” between executives at Sony Pictures and film director Sam Raimi over the script. There are even reports of visual effects technicians being told to find work elsewhere because the delay could last several months.
So aside from any Spider-Man games being affected because of this sudden halt, one of the biggest films to ever grace the gaming community could be affected. That is because in July on last year, Raimi signed on to direct a major motion picture set in Blizzard’s Warcraft universe, which is also the setting for the extremely popular game World of Warcraft. The project was first announced by production company Legendary Pictures (300, The Dark Knight) in 2006.
Now keep in mind that the Warcraft movie never did have a solid release date but Spider-Man 4 was set to be released on May 6, 2011 and could now be pushed back till the summer of that year. This in-turn could put a hold on Raimi’s 100 million dollar fantasy epic.
