Microsoft: Xbox One Sold Out At Most U.S. Retailers, Tending Higher Than Xbox 360 (Update)

Update: Microsoft has given an official statement following the NPD results for June 2013: “Xbox One, which will launch this fall, has already seen impressive pre-order sales as consumers have signed up to be the first to receive the new system,” Microsoft said last night. ”In fact, Xbox One pre-orders are trending ahead of Xbox 360 pre-orders during the same time period and have already sold out at most major US retailers.”

Original Story: Xbox One is sold out at major U.S. retail outlets, Microsoft is boasting, and has also made known that the new console is trending higher than Xbox 360 historically, meaning more people are preordering Xbox One than those who preordered Xbox 360 at launch.

Chief of Staff for Devices and Studios Group at Microsoft Aaron Greenberg was more than happy to share the news via twitter:

Got mine on preorder with a plethora of games! Killzone Shadow Fall, BF4 and COD: Ghosts. Too many shooters. Knack, I want early too.

Yeah that may (MAY) be in the US. What about the entire world? Trending Lower than the 360?

That doesn’t much, actually. We don’t know how many units the 360 had at launch so his talk is a bit vague – but at the end of the day it’s a win for the industry, especially after MS did the 180 – although I still don’t trust them.

Well it wouldn’t be that easy, and fans would cry foul and it’d be a big mess for MS. But they can do it, I just think it’s a long shot.
