Fear Not, Developers Can Turn Off DualShock 4′s Lightbar

When Sony Worldwide Studios boss Shuhei Yoshida confirmed that the lightbar on DualShock 4 wouldn’t include an option to turn it off, many thought that it’d drain battery life or, even worse, obstruct gameplay, none of which I think are credible arguments because I think Sony’s been pretty amazing when it comes to long-lasting battery life for PS3, and I don’t see why that should stop with PS4. On the lightbar obstructing gameplay argument, that too is a bit far-fetched, as I don’t think the light’s so bright that it would intrude with one’s gaming experience. Nonetheless, Yoshida made known via twitter that developers, if they so choose, could turn off the game’s lightbar.

The way this would work, I’m thinking, is by developers simply including a “turn of lightbar” option in their games. Simple enough.
