Nintendo Announces New Mario Smash Bros. Being Developed By Namco

Nintendo’s announced that a new Mario Smash Bros. is under development for 3DS and Wii U, however the company itself isn’t at the helm, Namco Bandai is.

Namco Bandai’s Masaya Kobayashi, who’s worked on Ridge Racer, and Yoshito Higuchi of the Tales games, will be developing the game, however franchise creator Masahiro Sakurai will still be heading the project.

The project not being developed by Nintendo got some Japanese fans upset, with some even calling Namco Bandai “incompetent”, according to Kotaku. Sakurai was displeased with the name-calling, and he fired back with a rather sharp response: “Knock off looking down on them with narrow-minded thinking.”
