THQ’s former core games boss has declared that the company he helped shape for the last few years won’t be late to the party once the next batch of consoles launch next year.
Bilson notes that while Saints Row has been very successful, the general consensus is that they were late to bring their big games on PS3 and 360, a lapse that costed them an early foothold. They almost missed the gold rush.
“I can say this – and I wasn’t at THQ during the last platform transition,” Bilson told Eurogamer in his last interview as core games boss at THQ. “The general feeling was THQ was late to the 360 and PS3. Certainly Saints Row was very successful in being the first 360 THQ game.”
He added: “This time we’re not going to be late. We’re not late to the party at all. There is planning and development around certain titles and how it lays out in the future. I can’t speak to it really except to say we’re not going to be late to the party this time.”
Earlier in the month, Supperannuation discovered the LinkedIn profile of David Payne, a guy that’s been doing work on Saints Row games since the second title, and has continued work ever since on recently-released Saints Row: The Third, and upcoming standalone extension pack Enter the Dominatrix. Saints Row 4 is also listed on his profile.
In November of last year, Bilson told XPlay, “I already know what Saint’s Row 4 is about, and it is wilder than this one. It’s a good.”

the question is not will they be late, the question is will they be there at all!
considering the financial situation there in.
