Apple Is Coming With New Console, Ready Or Not

by Ernice Gilbert on April 8th, 2011, under Apple, Hot, News

Nintendo UK PR head Rob Saunders who just left the company after working there for seven years, will head to Apple to look after “apps across the iPad, iPod and iPhone ranges.” But that’s not the full story of major games industry execs making the exodus to the massively successful company.

Apparently, UK PR champion Nick Grange is leaving Activision’s top UK communications post to join Apple.

The tech firm’s been inching more and more into the traditional games space, even more so with the launch of iPad and iPad 2.

It’s also worth noting that Nick Grange was on both the Xbox and Xbox 360 launch teams for Microsoft. Pay close attention to this, and don’t be surprised if we hear of a bombshell announcement in the near future.

More through here and here.

lol, i don’t think apple will jump in the home console realm. crazier things have happened though. if they do i bet their controller will be like the ipod/ipad/iphone, you know, all about touch and accelorometers because they hate buttons.

Yeah they hate buttons, but I’d totally NOT buy a home console that sports no buttons….But then again it’s Apple – one should never underestimate that company!

    never going to happen!
to survive in the industry you need exclusives.
where are they going to get them?
id love to see apple join the console industry, but they just dont have the necessary studios to do so.

  8. Sat, 9th Apr 2011 at 11:00 am

Come on, Nick. They’re going to do just like Microsoft. What did you say when Microsoft was joining? Where were they going to get exclusives? Well, the own studios, Apple can buy studios…

  9. Sat, 9th Apr 2011 at 11:26 am

    what studios?
you really think all the third party studios are going to sell to them?
M$ muscled there way into the industry by being the only console in the market with a HDD, and a massive online community.
apple could not do that, because then they would be no better then M$.
only way a company can enter a already saturated market and survive is if they can offer something different that no one else can.
what would they offer that sony, ninty and M$ cant offer?
