Original Story: Sony’s now banning any and everybody who’s trying to access PSN with hacked consoles, but the added pressure the giant’s mounting might be more than just an effort of trying to keep pirates and cheaters away, it might also be about other important information that’s at risk.
A report on ArsTechnica’s claiming that Sony’s “the biggest spy ever”, with the company collecting every piece of information it receives. From the controllers you’re using, to what USB devices are plugged in.
That’s according to a hacker who told the site “[Sony] collect so much data. All connected devices return values sent to Sony’s servers.”
The hacker also claimed that credit card information is sent to Sony via an unencrypted text file, which means you could be the victim of credit card theft because the file isn’t secure.
The report goes on, adding all information is stored online with Sony and updated every time a user turns on the system, with various sources claiming e-mails have even been sent to them by Sony, notifying them of their system being hacked before even logging into PSN. This, however, is a massive rumor from one guy, so don’t even drink the water. Just sit by and watch if it turns another color…. Sony will definitely respond.
