Treyarch’s Next Call Of Duty Game Based In “Near Future” Would Be “Fantastic” Says Designer Director

Call Of Duty. Although everyone’s trying to kill it, the franchise just won’t die. Treyarch’s effort, Call of Duty: Black Ops, is the latest, and has since become the fastest selling game of all time, and the biggest entertainment launch of all time, grossing publisher Activision over $1 billion, and that’s after being available for less than a year.

That being said, Treyarch’s already looking forward, and if it were left up to them, their next COD title would be based in the not too distant…..future.

That’s what the the stuido’s design director told Machinima recently, he said “yes” when asked if the Black Ops developer would be up to it.
I think it would be kind of a unique opportunity but the way that this works out is obviously more complicated than, ‘Hey, me and Treyarch are going to make a near-future shooter,’” he said.

“It’s a tough question to answer. We have not announced any new Call of Duty games at this time but to answer his specific question I think, personally, it would be pretty fantastic to do near-future, you know? Not necessarily far-future.”

Earlier in the week, Treyarch released the first bunch of DLC for Black Ops dubbed “First Strike” for 12,000 Microsoft Points or $15. It’s available now on Xbox Live and will come to other platforms later.
