Even In Japan, Black Ops Is King

Wow, who would have thought Treyarch’s latest Call of Duty title would out pace Infinity Ward’s Modern Warfare 2? Not many. But not only has the game done the very thing, even in Japan it’s proving to be popular, selling 128,922 copies in launch week.

What!? A U.S. made game, a shooter at that, sells almost 130,000 copies in its first week on sale in the orient? Times are changing.

That’s according to the latest Media Create sales data for the week of Nov. 15th-21st. Of course the PS3 version sold the most, with the Xbox 360′s version selling a decent 30,279 copies.

It’s even more amazing, the numbers are, especially as many analysts have predicted, just before the game came out, that the COD franchise was fading.
