Forgetting the failure that was 3DO, Panasonic’s first dive into the handheld market, the company has announced it’ll once more take a chance, releasing what it says will allow users to access online games and MMOs wherever they go.
It’s called the Jungle, and according to Gizmodo, the Jungle will feature a QWERTY keyboard, touchpad, shoulder buttons and a d-pad, as well as a HDMI port and a micro USB port. It’ll also have its own custom build of popular operating system, Linux.
As for the games confirmed thus far, there’s been only one: Battlestar Galactica, a MMO from developer BigPoint.
We’ll see where this goes. I’m not doubting its success, but with industry mainstays like DS and PSP on the verge of getting upgrades, I’m not sure how Panasonic’s new “Jungle” will do in the jungle.

Yeah, a big handicap by keeping out other games indeed. But the PSP is not dead : )
