Modern Warfare 2 developer, Infinity Ward has been to hell and back recently. The studio lost most of its great talent and was left in shambles, literally.
Will it rise again? Activison’s sure it will, but according to the publisher, they’ve learned a lesson: “Let Infinity Ward be Infinity Ward”.
Activision’s Dave Stohl told Develop that the company is “supporting Infinity Ward in the rebuilding process, [but] I use the term ‘support’ because as much as possible we don’t want to tamper with that group of people.”
According to the exec, throwing staff at the studio would only change with its culture, and that’s something they don’t want to mess with.
“We want Infinity Ward to be Infinity Ward,” Stohl said. “It’s a very specific culture.”
Stohl continued: “Recruiting for Infinity Ward – I mean we have had … well, let’s just say recruiting is not a problem!”
Indeed, the publisher had received over 5,000 job applications of Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer, so recruiting was obviously not a problem.
“There’s a tonne of talented people at the studio, and yes some on the inside are stepping up their game internally and becoming more senior.
I’m not going to sit here and say no good talent left the studio, because obviously a lot of good talent did.
But a lot of people who are really passionate about their job are still there.”
When it’s all said and done, however, Stohl believes the legendary studio that’s created the best selling shooter of all time, and one the best selling games, will rise again from the ashes.
“I’m one hundred per cent confident that the studio will come back to what it was, especially considering all the talent we’re seeing rising through and also being recruited.
There’s a development philosophy that remains intact, and the studio is attracting amazing new talent. Ultimately, Infinity Ward will rise from the ashes.”

im sure they will but there reputation is never going to be the same again!
they lost allot of talented people, not the little guys, its not like the junior programmers or someone low ranked left, its the lead designers, both founders its the big cheese!
they lost allot of there big people, the guys who made IW to what we know today.
thats going to hurt them big time, and its going to take them a long time to rebuild there reputation back.
Yep, reality sets in and you realize the studio won’t be what it once was at all. But that’s the nature of life. You win some and lose some.
Oh, well what can you do, right? But hopefully they will rise back on their feet and make games they were best known for.
We can only hope so, azianskillzs10, we can only hope.
