Rumor: Halo: Reach Is Playable To The End

by Ernice Gilbert on January 1st, 2010, under Rumor, Xbox 360

On the 4 Guys 1UP Podcast, some news that you might not expect surfaced, Halo: Reach is “already fully playable from beginning to end.” Ellis made the statement after John David was talking about a game he’d seen and the build was already 40% complete from beginning to end and it’s playable, but won’t come out until the Q4 2010.

Adding credence to the rumor, split-screen recently had a chat with Bungie’s sound designer, Hung-Wei David Liu who said “work here is supposed to last eight to nine months, as I’m under contract to last until the end of the project which may or may not be at the end of July,” he said. Knowing the company I’d be working for, however, I don’t expect them to miss their mark.

Could it be that Halo: Reach is truly complete and Bungie is now just testing and making sure all is well with the different aspects of the game? The developer recently confirmed that come mid-January, the embargo on Halo: Reach will be lifted, prompting a major media blowout in magazines and other media outlets around the world.

Development of the game started shortly after Halo 3 was released, and the multiplayer beta was included in the Halo 3: ODST disc, which begins in spring.

We’ll bring you all the latest on this story as they breaks.
