Xbox 360 sold 70,000 consoles at launch.
The UK weekly sales chart has revealed that Xbox One sold 140,000 units during its launch weekend in Great Britain, double the amount of Xbox 360s sold during launch, which was 70,000 units.
FIFA 14 has retaken its #1 spot because of the Xbox One launch bundle it was included in free of charge, Call of Duty: Ghosts slipped to 2nd and Battlefield 4 sits at third.
FIFA 14 sales were up a monumental 328 percent, largely in part to the game being bundled with Xbox One. In fact sales of the popular sports game saw 63 percent coming from Xbox One. The PS4 edition of the game accounted for 11 percent of sales — and that’s even before the console is out. Impressive.

PlayStation 4 hits Europe on Friday, so expect to see the likes of Call of Duty: Ghosts, FIFA 14 and Battlefield 4 storm the charts again. Killzone: Shadow Fall should also post great numbers.
On the sales note, I’m not sure how impressive 140,000 units for the launch weekend of Xbox One in the UK is. I mean it’s much better than what Xbox 360 managed, but living in an age where most gamers preorder their consoles, I’m sure Microsoft was expecting to do better. Then again maybe not. Maybe after DRM-gate, doing 140,000 is rather impressive.
It’s Sony’s turn on Friday and it’ll be interesting to see how the console performs compared to Xbox One. Because PS4 has already outperformed Xbox One in North America, so if it manages to handily defeat Xbox One at launch in the U.K., a place known to favor Xbox, it’ll say a lot about where things are headed.
