Foxconn Intern Claims Some Students Sabotaged PS4 Production, Another Say It Isn’t True

There have been talk recently about one line of PS4s being sabotaged by interns hired by Foxconn to work on PS4s,  who were overworked by the company. They did this as a manner of protest, an intern, posting on the IGN forums alleged, in a thread that was locked immediately upon creation.

But now another student is calling rubbish on that particular post in a thread that appeared on the Xi’an Technological University North Institute forums, who said if the consoles are broken, don’t blame the students, blame quality control.

If the system is broken, don’t blame us students. When we were studying, they shipped in 20,000 migrant workers from Guizhou. On top of that, there were also many Yantai local students and long-time Foxconn workers at the factories. The people that made the news were us Xi’an Technological University North Institute students. We’re not even 1/10 of the workers at Foxconn. So don’t blame the issue on us Chinese students, and don’t talk about Foxconn on this board. You have no idea how hard it was to work in the factories as a recent high school graduate. Feel free to ask questions about the PS4 but not about Foxconn. Those with dirty mouths aren’t welcome.

If you have a problem, go find quality control. We were only in charge of manufacturing.

So what’s really going on? Well,  this rumor should be taken with a grain of salt as the IGN forum member who started it has only been a member since last Friday. What were his/her intentions? Was she telling the truth, or is this just a situation where Sony’s good name is being mired for no solid reasons. Still, one can’t argue with the reports of PS4 hardware issues, and although affected consoles are in the minority, people at Sony must be checking into the situation to be ascertained that it’s all talk and no substance.

It’s also important to note that Foxconn makes consoles for Microsoft and Nintendo, too. They also produce iPhones, Galaxies and countless other electronic devices.

We’ll have to wait and see how widespread this is.
