Microsoft: Xbox One will never come without Kinect

Phil Harrison shot down every rumor about a Kinect-free Xbox One bundle.

Microsoft’s Phil Harrison, speaking with CVG, said that Xbox One will never come without Kinect.

“Correct. Xbox One is Kinect. They are not separate systems. An Xbox One has chips, it has memory, it has Blu-ray, it has Kinect, it has a controller. These are all part of the platform ecosystem.”

That means that every developer can count on Kinect, whether or not the end user uses it; it’s granted that every user has it, even though it’s been modified to not be necessary for the operation of the console as it once was.
