Kratos’ prequel wasn’t cheap at all. In fact it’s in competition with Modern Warfare 2′s $40-$50 million cost, a landmark of sorts for big-budget videogames.
That’s according to the game’s lead producer Whitney Wade, speaking in an interview with 20 Minuten. She told the site that the game had “a mid double-digit million amount”.
Guesstimating her opague answer would leave us near $50 million, a very expensive but not unusual figure for blockbuster titles like God of War.
And knowing that the game will do about 5 million lifetime sales, it’ll make back more than four times the amount it cost.
No worries here.
