Thirsty Conversations: What’s Your Gaming Setup?

Thirsty Conversations: What’s Your Gaming Setup?

When I game, I love to hear my guns piecing through men I so mindlessly slaughter like the killing machine I am (At least in Killzone). I also love it when I launch out a rocket from my RPG and straightway into a tank the bombarding sound that follows. And when I play Uncharted, the visuals…oh the visuals…

Here’s the question: What’s you gaming setup? Let’s boast. Do it here: The Official Gamesthirst bragging school.

would love to show off my setup but i am taking it down.. coz i realized my move ps3 won’t work with my projector setup… since i can’t start drilling holes in the ceiling…. BUT that is a nice setup u got there….

  • http://www.gamesthirst.com Ernice Gilbert

That’s not my setup. Ha! I wish! Mine’s pretty descent, though but it’s not what’s up there. Take a pic of yours and upload on here before you take it down.

  • linglingjr

an average 40inch samsung led tv, and some nice AKG audiophile head phones that are 100x better than any of those stupid cheap turtle beaches. and thats it lol. what is your set up ernice?

  • http://www.gamesthirst.com Ernice Gilbert

Bravia 32″ – And a nice surround sound system that bombards my gaming space with sounds so loud you’d think you were on the Battlefield. It’s a decent setup but I love it!

  • benzo

Nice EG!! My set up is a 60″ mitsubishi DLP rear projection TV with 7.1 dolby Surround Onkyo Surround sound…and some turtle beach headphones when i wanna mic up!

  • Ghost250

Sony Bravia 1080p 240hz 3D TV, Dolby Digital Surround Sound, sadly no turtle beach heaphones yet plan on getting some PX5′s. right now i just got a cheap xbox 360 mic and no mic for the the ps3

  • nick

seriously dont bother with the PX5s there are far better headsets out there for the same price.
the astro A40s are by far the best only drawback being there wired and a little pricey, but they kick the royal %$#@ out of the PX5s!
anyway, ive been using a 60 inch panasonic plasma and rotell 7.1 processor.
oh and a custom PC, but not for long im thinking of selling it for a gaming notebook.
its just not really worth having, if i was to sell it ive been offered 5K for it and that would get me a pretty good notebook!
yea no where near the spec of my PC, but the problem is there wont be any games that would give me the advantage of my PC over a laptop for another 10 years!
PC hardware has evolved so much so quickly, but developers are just too tight a$$ed and lazy to use it!
leaked specs for the GTX 780 showed up today, though i have to ask what for?
no developer properly utilizes dual 580s so what do we need a card that has supposed double the processing power?

  • http://www.gamesthirst.com Ernice Gilbert

@Benzo: Man, that’s a mighty setup you have there! I can only imagine Skyrim running on this.. Epic!

  • http://www.gamesthirst.com Ernice Gilbert

@Ghost: I like it! Dolby gives the best quality sound anywhere. And you’re rocking 3D? Man, we game big on gamesthirst!

  • http://www.gamesthirst.com Ernice Gilbert

@Nick: You’re going hard with the 60″ Plasma, son. We game hard around these parts. HARD!

  • Ghost250

@nick sounds good but i really dont want wired headsets but if their better than px5′s ill check out them out.

  • http://www.gamesthirst.com Ernice Gilbert

    I don’t like wired nothing.

  • nick

seriously stay away from wireless headsets.
reason being ive had the PX5s, the ear force deltas, the $ony MDR-DS6500, sennheiser gaming series and the official playstation headset.
audio quality is not as good as a wired one, you have to remember you buy a 300 dollar wired headphone every ounce of that is going to audio quality.
wireless its being split in so many different areas, audio quality, transmitter, battery, battery life.
so your never going to get as good audio quality.
also a big problem with wireless headsets is they use the 2.4GHz bandwidth which almost all electronics use, so if you have a phone in the house, or microwave or WIFI your audio will constantly drop out.
thats what put me off them, the audio kept dropping out and the audio quality was not the best.
obviously totally up to you, you have to ask do i really hate wires that much im willing to pay 100 more and have a less quality product.
i just cant recommend them, the cons strongly outweigh the pros.
the A40s are night and day better then the PX5s, theres a reason why MLG only use them and nothing but them.
best reviewed headset out there too.

  • ExclusivesMostly

My setup is 40in 1080p 120hz XBR Sony bravia, Sony 1000 watt Home theatre system (w/ subwoofer).

  • http://www.gamesthirst.com Ernice Gilbert

@ExclusivesMostly: Yesir. You’re not playing jokes, bro. My, my. That’s gaming heaven right there.

  • http://www.gamesthirst.com Ernice Gilbert

@Nick: The way you put it, I’m halfway convinced. I might FINALLY get one for Christmas..

  • foxton

Samsung 50″ 1080p 3D plasma for my main room and a 42″ LG 1080i in my bedroom.
I did get a panasonic surround sound system when i bought my 3D tv, but the system has no optical output so havent got it working with my PS3! been meaning to get a better surround system but am not very technical and dont no how to get it all set up!
And my headset was the standard Sony wireless headset but my dog managed to get hold of it and chew it. Contemplating treating myself to a wired headset for christmas!

  • http://www.gamesthirst.com Ernice Gilbert

@Foxton: Nice setup man! You’ll be bombastic all the way once you get that surround sound going. But that dog….LOL. Keep him on a leash.

  • http://www.gamesthirst.com Ernice Gilbert

@Nick. Help out foxton, will ya?

  • afrotravis

optoma 3d 1080p projector, official ps3 sony soon bar, official ps3 wireless headset..

  • rpatricky

Sharp 52″ LCD TV, Onkyo 7.1 Surround Sound, Kick ass chair and ottoman and a dog that runs away when the gunfire starts.

  • http://www.gamesthirst.com Ernice Gilbert

    @Afrotrav: You’re gaming like a beast!

  • http://www.gamesthirst.com Ernice Gilbert

“Sharp 52″ LCD TV, Onkyo 7.1 Surround Sound, Kick ass chair and ottoman and a dog that runs away when the gunfire starts.” I had a feeling yours would be the comment of the week! LOL. Nice gaming setup, btw!

  • rpatricky

I like it. It’s funny, I know that the volume is too loud when the dog takes off. Usually, he is laying on my lap under my arm. The other one curls up behind my head and snores into my ear.

  • http://www.gamesthirst.com Ernice Gilbert

HAHAHA. You have a dog farm!!!

  • rpatricky

I have 3 Pugs. 1 is almost 13, one is 3 and raised from a pup and the last one was adopted. I guess you could call it a dog farm but the only things being produced are Dog Crap and Dog Hair dust bunnies.

  • http://www.gamesthirst.com Ernice Gilbert

haha. 13 doggy years, you mean? That’s cool, man.

  • rpatricky

Nope. 13 in human years. Still chugging along.

  • http://www.gamesthirst.com Ernice Gilbert

Wow. That’s just amazing. You should teach him how to play?

  • rpatricky

Could you imagine, being showed up by a canine?
This conversation just stepped into the Twilight Zone.

  • http://www.gamesthirst.com Ernice Gilbert

Haha. Yes indeed. Headset and all. Haha. Barks all over the place while weak, virtual souls die. Haha.

  • nick

depends what surround system it is, some can get REALLY complicated!
if it does not have a optical then your only other option is going through HDMI if it has that, otherwise id suggest selling it.
the logitech Z5500 speakers are not a bad setup, 5.1, DTS, sound fantastic!
for their price, the sub is massive and of course it has a optical output.
whatever you do though never buy bose!
there ok, but they are way too overpriced for what they are.

  • foxton

Its a shitty Panasonic one, only cost me about £80. I have my Tv on surround sound through my HDMI cable, but when i swap to my HDMI output for my ps3 i can still hear the tv through the surround sound not the ps3! very annoying.
And rpatricky i am a huge fan of dogs, Ive had nelson my rottweiler from 8 weeks, picked him at 2 weeks! he follows me everywhere, my mates call him the shadow. Propper softy though and totally the opposite of the “typical rottweiler”

  • http://www.gamesthirst.com Ernice Gilbert

@foxton: Wow, that must be annoying, man. And concerning the dog, should I get a dog? For good luck.

  • foxton

Ha that depends on your situation! Dogs are a mans best friend, and the only love money can buy. They are loyal and will protect and defend you, be 100% devoted to you will always to so pleased to see you when you get home from work! So much easier than a woman in so many ways! anyway enough of the soppy stuff, yeah it is well annoying, i have no idea what im doing wrong! Surround sound only works for the tv, not for SKY or PS3 or any other HDMI channels :( im thinking i need a new one, but how will i no that the new one i buy wont do the same??

  • http://www.gamesthirst.com Ernice Gilbert

@foxton: Great comment. Agreed fully about the dog/woman stuff, so I’m convinced: Rover it is…..About the Surround Sound troubles…I don’t think you’ll have a same issues with another one. Just make sure to watch the specs and compatibility. Make sure it’s an easy setup, too.
