Alan Wake To Be Published PC By Remedy, Not Microsoft

After conflicting reports ensued about who exactly would publish Alan Wake on PC, Remedy Entertainment has clarified the situation, saying it’s not MS, but they themselves will publish the game.

The confusion came after it was confirmed that Microsoft would publish the new Xbox Live title dubbed Alan Wake: American Nightmare, and many thought the firm would do the same for the first game’s PC release. Remedy, however, has stated otherwise.

“Microsoft is still the publisher of Alan Wake’s American Nightmare, which is being released on XBLA in early 2012,” said Remedy community manager Peter Papadopoulos the firm’s official forums.

“As for Alan Wake PC, it’s a Remedy self published title which is coming to Steam, also being released early in 2012,” he added.

Remedy writer Mikko Rautalahti also chimed in, noting that he was aware and understood the frustration coming from the PC community when said version’s release was canceled. He also said that these things could get a bit complicated.

“I can genuinely appreciate that people were frustrated — and it was frustrating for us as well, because it was out of our hands at the time. These things can get pretty complicated.”
