Quenchables: Naughty Dog On Pushing PS3 To Its Limits

Can PS3 be pushed any further after Uncharted 3? Naughty Dog’s Justin Richmond, game director on the latest game answer’s with a quick, quenchable quote.

“We were, at any given point, using 100% [of the PlayStation 3's power]. We were using everything we possibly could. There is always room where you find something where you can do the processing in some different way to find more power. There are all of these different ways to squeeze more power out of the box.”

Thanks, VG247, Venture Beat.

same as uncharted 2, however 3 just does not look as good.
its got much better lighting, physics effects but the texture detail has really been bumped down.
compare the jungle level from 2 and 3, or the level where you first meet up with elana, the texture detail in the bricks is far better then the texture detail in uncharted 3.
cant remember which level it was, but the first gap drake tries to squeeze through, and the first time you see the spiders where hes almost out then gets covered in them.
the camera zooms right up against the wall, and you can see how plasticy and low res it looks.
the bricks in 2 you could see every single individual grain, it looked amazing!
3, though, well everything looks like plastic.
even compare the tree trunks from 2 to 3, 2 looked amazing where 3 looks like a wax statue!
500 bucks says its because of the added 3D support.
having to render every scene twice, would of taken up allot of memory so to make room for that they had to lower the texture resolution.
another 500 bucks says 3D is also why theres no boss battles.
getting 3D to work in a massive chopper fight like they did in uncharted 2 with the graphics expected, and not have the frame rate chug like crysis on a P4 would be nigh on impossible!
i just wish developers would can 3D support till next gen, current systems just do not have the juice required for it and the expected visual clarity we expect.

Just bring the next Uncharted on PS4.. That’s good enough for me.

dunno if will get uncharted 4.
ND always do a new IP for a new console, so id rather that happen.
then depending on how good it is, either do a sequel for it or do uncharted 4 later on.
im sick of uncharted, we need to see a new IP from them.
