PS3 Sales In Australia Skyrocket In Wake Of New Lower Price

Sony Australia’s announced that PS3 sales in the country have seen a massive hike to the tune of “400 percent” in the wake of the new price cut Sony issued the console back in August at GamesCom 2011 in Cologne, Germany.

“Australians love not only games, but also the quality home entertainment PS3 provides,” said Michael Ephraim, SCEA managing director.

“Sales are booming because PlayStation 3 is the best device to connect to your TV, at incredible value, to provide the ultimate home entertainment experience.”

The price cut in Australia was bigger than anywhere else, as the console saw AUD $150 slash. The 160 GB PS3 is now available for AUD $350 with the 320 GB model at AUD $450.

    tis what happens when you stop charging a ridiculous price for your system!
    now hopefully they will learn their lesson and drop the price of the vita.
    who the hell is going to spend 400 on a vita alone when they could spend 300 on a 160GB ps3 AND a monster 2K HDMI cable RRP 180 AND a 2nd DS3 controller RRP 100 AND a bluray remote RRP 60 AND both the uncharted and resistance bundles?
    seriously!?
    its like saying no i wont buy that brand new ferrari enzo for 5K id much rather spend more on that brand new ford focus!
    i thought we were suppose to be paying LESS for less, not MORE for less!

    I don’t get why Sony’s allowed to sell stuff so expensive in AU when the AU Dollar’s higher the US.

    problem is no one does anything about it, so why stop?
    governments as lazy as ^%$#, waiting for them to step in and do something would be like waiting for half life 3 to come out.
    besides that i just cant understand their logic!
    they released the ps3 at a ridiculously high price, it sold poorly.
    they released the GO at a ridiculously high price and it sold poorly.
    so you would think they would learn their lesson, and release the vita at a cheap price, right?
    stubborn as a mule would be understatement of the century!
