Quick Quenchers: Kojima Interested In L.A. Noire Tech

“I’m very interested in [LA Noire], and I’m waiting for it to be released in Japanese. I haven’t played it yet but I was able to go to the studio where they were [performing the facial capture]. The technology is absolutely fantastic. Nevertheless, for the next game I want to make, it isn’t necessarily the technology I need, so I don’t think it goes along with the next game I would like to create. This technology, regarding facial expressions – that affect the outcome of the game – I think that’s a huge element that from now on will change the direction of adventure games.” – Hideo Kojima during the Gamelab conference in Barcelona. Thanks, Edge.

its great tech, but its far too expensive.
theres allot of ways to get the same result at half the hassle and cost.
thats one thing we need in games though, expression, not only in faces but in a characters voice.
look at the witcher 2, the facial animation is amazing, but theres no emotion in there voices, its as plastic as can be!
no acting, its almost like a zombies reading the lines!
