Gears of War 3 will bring the trilogy to a close, and the story of Marcus Fenix, the game’s main protagonist with it. But don’t you worry about the franchise on a whole because when one door closes, another opens – as Epic Games promises to continue the universe, albeit with a totally different story and plot for Gears of War 4.
That’s according to game Producer Rod Fergusson, divulging the information to CVG.
“We’re not blowing up the world, so Sera and the Gears universe will live on, but for us we didn’t want to betray our customers and community by having a cliff-hanger ending where you’re like, ‘Argh I just got duped, now I’ve gotta wait until the next game,” he told the site.
“We wanted to have closure. We wanted people to have some satisfaction that they were along for this ride and they lived through a story.
We’re not going to reveal everything because we want some mystique left in our universe, but this is the Marcus Fenix story and people should feel satisfied after playing through that.”
Gears of War 3 goes on sale September 20th worldwide exclusively for Xbox 360.

I love the gears universe, but I do not want them to keep making games, just to make them. If they are able to really keep the game fresh, then i will be okay, but only time will tell.
they can stretch the story out a little further if they wanted, but i guess its better to cut early then drag on and leave it too late.
all i can say is as long as they have a giant worm getting his arterys sliced ill be happy!
Haha. They’ve done a great job thus far, it’ll only continue.
i never want it to end!
to good a series to say goodbye to!
