Although VGCharts numbers weren’t completely accurate, the site got one thing correct, Black Ops has indeed outdone Modern Warfare 2 in the sales department, making the game the biggest entertainment launch of all time.
This according to the mega-publisher itself, Activision.
According to the company’s “internal estimates,” this week’s launch of Call of Duty: Black Ops is the series’ largest of all time, bringing in $360 million in sales thus far between the U.S., and UK.
The game sold approximate 5.6 million on November 9, compared with 4.7 million moved during last year’s Modern Warfare 2 launch.
I can’t help but wonder what’s going through former Infinity Ward bosses, Vince Zampella and Jason West minds, as they watch the game they made popular sail past their last title’s numbers.
Still, this must be a good feeling for Activsion, and especially Treyarch, as many hail Black Ops as being the Call of Duty title with the best storyline.

good for Activision.
Indeed. Massive sales. The gaming industry’s doing great for itself.
