I think we all know now that Uncharted 3 is under development by Naughty Dog. I mean who wouldn’t do another installment of a game that’s sold 4 million copies in one year, holds a steady 96 at metacritic, and won countless GoTY awards? Yet, it’s good to get further confirmation that the highly anticipated sequel’s forthcoming.
Rubicon Holding’s executive director Ghassan Ayoubi spoke to The National in a recent interview where topics concerning violence in games, and the need for said games to be edited before they can be released to Arab audiences were discussed. The firm hopes to create a path so games don’t get banned by creating an initiative to localize those them by making all the necessary edits, beginning with a partnership with MEC, a distributor of Sony titles in Saudi Arabia.
Existing titles will be worked on first, then the firm will move to titles currently under development with Ayoubi quoted as saying the company will localize “two to four games per year.”
Two games mentioned as being amongst the first to be localized are Fifa 11 and Uncharted 3.
Not surprising at all.
Via Ripten.

fifa 11?
why would that need to be localized?
finished reading the GI mag yesterday, they had a really interesting article on why games get banned.
the reason why L4D2 got banned but DR2 did not is because the zombies in L4D2 are not called zombies, there called the infected.
killing dead things AKA zombies is fine, but as soon as you hint at its actually a human your killing than it instantly gets banned!
ok, so what about MoH, COD, assassins creed, and all the other games that have you killing “humans”?
thats one spot that falls down to complete BS!
other one is DR2s zombies are the same!
there not zombies as in the living dead, there the infected just like in L4D.
or resident evil.
thats what i cant understand its not ok to kill infected humans but its ok to kill healthy humans?
ok, now im even more confused than what i was before!
I don’t know man, these legislators in AU need to gets things straight.
its really hypercritical that.
anyway, sent a email off to gameinformer discussing it hopefully they might elaborate on it in there next issue.
Good, I like that you’re taking action.
