Crysis 2 Won’t Be Intimidated By Other Titles Release Dates

Crysis 2 was supposed to be out for the holidays, however Crytek announced that the will see a release next year instead, on March 22nd.

Many concluded that the developer was afraid of Call of Duty: Black Ops and Halo: Reach releasing around the same period, and so the move had to be made.

EA Partners boss David DeMartini says that’s not the case at all. For him, nothing could “intimidate” Crysis 2.

“A game like Crysis and a team like Crytek’s never going to be intimidated by being in any window,” he said to Eurogamer in a recent interview. “But they will always be very careful of not releasing a game until it reaches its full potential. As we collaboratively evaluated when’s the right time for it to be ready, 22nd March was the perfect window for the game to hit its maximum potential.

DeMartini continued, relaying his confidence that Crysis 2 will be yet another “90s” rated game for Crytek, and how its multiplayer will be topnotch.

“It’s going to be another 90-rated game from Crytek,” he said, “It’s going to be on multiplatform for the first time. They just showed a glimpse of the multiplayer. There’s a lot of information that will be forthcoming with regards to the depth of the number of multiplayer modes, maps.

I can say there’s an entire team [Crytek UK] working on multiplayer alone for that game in England, so you can imagine how strong the multiplayer mode will be.”

Crysis 2 comes available on March 22nd for PS3, Xbox 360 and of course, PC.

WOW, Crytek running their mouths again. I am sure the game is already ready to go, but I bet EA did not want it to conflict with the release of Medal of Honor. Also, I don’t think Crytek is extremely worried about consoles either. I am sure they will make most of their money from the pc and the money from consoles will just be the icing on the cake. I am really getting sick of Crytek running off at the mouth.
