Will PlayStation Get The “Real” MGS Titles, While “New Generation” Work Go Multiplatform?

Kojima does not shy away from his twitter account. He loves it and has been tweeting many things, including things about Metal Gear Solid: Rising and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, saying that the former is created by a “new generation” and “will create new users” while the latter “is made by Hideo Kojima, a new but classical MGS”.

“The next MGS… “RISING.” this game will create new users, be developed by the new generation, a new MGS, but on the other hand, “PW” is made by Hideo Kojima, a new but classical MGS. PW is a new type of game design and experimental for future endeavors. So it is hard to say it will finish with one game,” he said through twitlonger.

Does this mean we’ll see “true” Metal Gear Solid titles released exclusive to the PlayStation brand, and “new generation” Metal Gear Solid titles go multiplatform? It’s a good question judging by the way Kojima talks about the two titles.

All the games that made the franchise what it is today are on PlayStation ranging from PS1 up to PS3, PSP and now PSPgo, it seems Kojima would love to continue this legacy and at the same time create a whole new base with another Metal Gear Solid title, RISING.

Keep in mind the franchise’s main base is on PlayStation, and they love the work Kojima’s done thus far. Creating a whole new “franchise” within an established franchise is risky enough, but bringing fourth a totally new experience with RISING because you want to expand, but at the same time neglecting millions of fans would be detrimental imo.

That’s why we know Metal Gear Solid 5 will eventually come, the big question is, will it stay exclusive to PS3, or will Xbox 360 and PC owners get to enjoy Kojima’s “original work”?

It’s the million dollar question.
