Final Fantasy XIII Is On Xbox 360 Because Microsoft “Asked” For It

It’s out now. It’s doing great. Are you one of the supporters? Even if you”re not, I’m sure you’d be interested in knowing how the once PS3 exclusive made it over to 360?

Run past the break.

It turns out the publishing giant just couldn’t deal with the thought of bypassing millions of Xbox 360 owners in the name of exclusivity.

“The Xbox team has been asking us to have a [Final Fantasy] game developed on our platform,” Square-Enix President, Yoichi Wada told Siliconera in an interview . “Also, the Xbox 360 console is available in many homes in US and European markets so that was not really a hard decision to make.”

Stroll back into the past with me for just a bit, the year’s 2008, in L.A. E3′s the venue. You know big things will happen: new releases will debut, demos of big games will be on display, surprise IPs and sequels alike will be shown – but none expected this:

Yoichi Wada joined Microsoft’s exec Don Mattrick on stage and delivered the earth-shattering announcement; Final Fantasy XIII was headed to Xbox 360.

And now we’re here, things change – people move on and we forget. PS3 fanboys don’t forget however…
