Sony “United Policy” A Winning Strategy Says It’s 3D Division

United we stand, divided we fall. You’ve heard the term used many times before but have you ever witnessed its results? I have: It’ll bridge divides, unite a people, change lives, and save lives. There is no stronger force than unity and it seems the company from the land of the rising sun is magnifying unity as part of its vision to help streamline business and give it an edge above the rest.

In a recent interview with Eurgomer’s Digital foundry, Simon Benson, senior development manager and Ian Bickerstaff, senior programmer on the Evolution Studios 3D team (A studio now owned by Sony), has said the unity amongst Sony owned studios is simply amazing.

“I’m supposed to be flying out to Sony Pictures tomorrow to go to the 3D technology center that they’ve opened up there. Again, comparing notes, cross-pollinating ideas, that sort of thing,” Ian Bickerstaff said. The “Sony United” policy where everyone talks to one another does actually seem to be happening. It’s not hype, it’s really working. It’s amazing.”

Eurogamer then asked whether there was any way of preventing duplication among the many divisions spread across the world:

“It’s all coordinated and more than that it’s all open too,” said Simon Benson. “We’re very close to everyone who’s doing similar things. “It’s surprising how even though we work across Europe, America and Japan, just how straightforward all the communication is.”

“Just the coordination effort that goes into getting the content to shows… a tremendous amount of effort across all of the Sony corporation, from the Bravia division to the games division.

“It’s all worked very well. There is a central coordination but the engineers are very proactive in keeping each other informed.”

Recently the giant has been going the extra mile to succeed in its endeavors, and if this unity policy is one of its latest moves, then it’s on the right track. I’d advise all companies to establish this policy or one with similar intentions, after all, one can never lose standing united.

I think everybody knows how I feel about unity no matter it be between console makers or inside the company between developers. I am so glad Sony is preaching unity and sticking to it this is great to see people working together to accomplish things I mean isn’t that what life is about working together with your common man to accomplish great tasks and help advance human beings as a species. I can’t wait to see what Sony has cooking up for us with all the 3D technology heck I can’t wait to be able to walk into a Wal-Mart,Best Buy,Gamestop, etc. and test out a 3D game or see a 3D High Def Movie. Nintendo is laughing at sony right now but the wii has penetrated into the market all it can and will quickly lose steam and Microsoft believes no controllers is the future and I agree with that to a certain extent but the Natal is not going to death-knell controllers and Sony now will have a head start going into next gen heck even this gen with the ps3 being updated with the firmware to play 3D movies and games.

“U-N-I-T-Y, U-N-I-T-Y that spells unity.” Glad to hear this, especially coming from a senior programmer on the 3D team! With such a large company that works in many different areas of entertainment – unity is crucial, especially for communication and it’s great to hear that it’s taking place at Sony.
