After one season comes another, and if the early days of Sony’s PS3 saw very little sales, the seasons have changed because now the system is one of the hottest tech items anywhere.
SCE has announced that the PS3 enjoyed its “most successful holiday season in history” as sales of said system sored to over 76% year-over-year. According to the software giant, this surge was made possible thanks to a cheaper PS3 Slim, blockbuster exclusive titles, plus games like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Assassin’s Creed 2 and the release of Final Fantasy XIII in Japan which helped move over 3.8 million units during the five weeks following the last week in November of last year. Added content on PSN also played a significant role with over 38 million registered network accounts.
When speaking about 2010 Sony, mentioned titles that would make it a even better year for them such as: Heavy Rain, God of War III, Gran Turismo 5, and Mod Nation Racers amongst others. SCEI also promised to “vigorously enhance the network content and services, while tapping a wider audience through the introduction of a new motion controller.”
Without a doubt, things are looking extremely good for the hardware giant and with 3D gaming set to take a big leap this year, we could see nothing but win in 2010 for Sony.
I really wonder how many units the Wii sold in December worldwide, not just in the United States or North America(however they do their numbers).
Maybe the guys at Nintendo as still counting the $$$$$ signs from all the money they made in December.
Wii has already won this console war, so they’re taking the high road and letting MS and Sony duke it out… Never thought Nintendo would bag this. Never.
man can you imagine what next gen is gonna be like? I honestly think Nintendo is going to win again. The wii completely dominated this gen with the wii and the nintendo ds, and i do think their next system will be hd with as good as graphics as whatever microsoft or sony puts out next, but who knows?
Yeah, it’ll be interesting to see what nintendo comes up with next Gen..
