3DS update to merge Wii U/3DS accounts, along with YouTube and Miiverse apps

3DS update to merge Wii U/3DS accounts, along with YouTube and Miiverse apps

Finally, Nintendo Network becomes more of a reality.

When the Wii U launched and featured the Nintendo Network ID system, which is basically the equivalent of PlayStation Network and Xbox Live, people were disappointed that their 3DS Friend Codes were separate. Nintendo will soon fix this, though, and unify the two to form the Nintendo Network.

Linking the two will also allow for a single wallet, as opposed to the two that the systems now use. Plus, YouTube and Miiverse applications are coming to the handheld. The groundbreaking community hub that first debutted on Wii U will see its way onto the 3DS, and Wii U-like integration (like screenshot, message and drawing sharing) will likely be included in future Nintendo games.

The update was not dated, but surely isn’t too far away.
