Dead Rising 3 denied age rating in Germany

Z-Z-Z-ZOMBIEKILL. Denied?

Dead Rising 3 has been denied a rating in Germany, which in turn forced Microsoft to pull the promising game from that territory’s Xbox One launch line-up.

Speaking to Destructoid,Microsoft said it was “disappointed” the BPjM’s decision was not what they expected, but weren’t clear about censoring the game for a German release.

“Dead Rising 3 will not be released in Germany as part of the Xbox One launch line-up on Nov. 22 having been unable to attain an age-rating upon review by BPjM (Bundeprüfstelle für jugendgefährende Medien), the country’s entertainment software self-regulation body.

While Microsoft is disappointed with this decision, we respect the views of the review panel and have withdrawn Dead Rising 3 from Germany’s Xbox One launch line-up. Dead Rising 3 will still be available in all other launch markets on 22 November 2013. Beyond that, we have no further comment.”

During GamesCom, a Microsoft rep told VideoGamer.com that the company was “doing all that we are able to do to try to get a rating. We want to launch this.”

The game is launching alongside the console in November 22, and will be in every territory’s launch line-up; save for Germany, for which we’ll have to wait and see.
