Microsoft’s Xbox Live Rewards program that gives players free MSP for buying games and renewing their Xbox Live subscriptions, will be retired on August 1st. It will be replaced with something “even better”, the firm has promised.
This is obviously tied to the fact that Microsoft is getting rid of its points system for real currencies, and “with all these changes, it’s become necessary for us to evolve the way we reward you,” wrote Microsoft in a statement.
Fear not, however, because the new system will be in place starting on September 1st, and will offer “even better” rewards.
“Since this currency change is impacting the structure of the program, we’re taking the opportunity to make Xbox Live Rewards even better,” Microsoft continued. “You’ll continue to get rewarded for doing the things you love on Xbox Live – just not with Microsoft Points.”
Microsoft noted that everyone will receive their pending points on August 7th, at which point they can either spend it immediately, or wait for said points to be converted into real currency.
