Xbox 360 Sells 960,000 Units During Black Friday Week

Microsoft has proudly announced that Xbox 360 sold a mammoth 960,000 units during the Black Friday holiday week, making it the “biggest sales week in the history of Xbox.”

The console moved 800 units during the Black Friday 24hr period, while Kinect managed 750,000 units. “We have seen tremendous excitement from customers for our hot holiday gaming offers,” said Chris Homeister, SVP and GM of Home Entertainment at Best Buy via press release, adding: “Xbox 360 was among the best-sellers at Best Buy this Black Friday, and is a testament to the continued popularity of the gaming category this holiday.”

Nintendo announced that it sold 500,000 Wii consoles during the same period, and although Sony said the Black Friday weekend saw increased PS3 sales, the firm’s yet to give an exact number.

    i mean why would you buy a 360 now?
    i really hope M$ realizes 99% of there fans are not interested in this motion control kiddy crap!
    only reason i was so reluctant in getting one, and now why im so tempted to get rid of it!
    i mean hell i have not turned the dam thing on since gears 3 released!
    there is hope though, a few rumours running around crackdown 3 is set to be unveiled soon.
    what, you did not think M$ would let $ony own the VGAs did you?
    i just hope it turns out like the original, not a clunky unfinished mess 2 was!

    The 360 has great games… Some really good games.

    @nick. Same reason people kept buying PS2 systems when the PS3 was released…..Less expensive….. and most likely touched in the head.

    And as usual with my state of logic being illogic I went out and bought a PS3 during that time period. On topic I’m quite sure that the Kinect Holiday Bundle and the Kinect itself being only $99 helped MS a lot.
