The Reason Battlefield 3 Won’t Be Available On Steam

Apparently, Steam is “restricting” EA to “directly support players”.

The game will be available on all major download sites bar Steam, and EA says “In doing so, our goal is to not only reach the widest possible global audience with our games, but also to provide ongoing customer support, patches and great new content.”

“We are intent on providing Battlefield 3 players with the best possible experience no matter where they purchase or play the game, and are happy to partner with any download service that does not restrict our ability to connect directly with consumers.

Unfortunately, Steam has adopted a set of restrictive terms of service which limit how developers interact with customers to deliver patches and other downloadable content. No other download service has adopted these practices.

We hope to work out an agreement where Steam can carry Battlefield 3; meanwhile, gamers can pick from the more than 100 digital retailers.”

Battlefield 3 comes out late October for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.

so EA are not the bad guys after all.
ive never been a fan of steam, its nothing but a massive pain in the a$$!
the download speeds are SO FREAKING SLOW!
the update sizes are not the update sizes, there the size of the game.
BO for example is telling me the latest patch is larger then the whole freaking game!
how can a patch be 8200MBs!?
so now i cant play the games i bought because im too scared to update them because they all say the game size not the update size.
so as far as i know the update could be ive had one over 3GBs, i cant afford to waste that much of my download usage on just freaking updates!
thats the next problem too, everytime your going to play a game on steam you have to start a minimum a hour before you want to play.
thats how freaking long the patches take to download and install!
i wish they would let us skip the updates, allot of the time there for MP which i never touch so why should i have to waste half of my download usage, and a hour for something im not going to touch?
i can NEVER get my game codes to work either!
first copy of portal 2 ps3 i bought i activated my code and steam would not accept it.
i got onto customer support, they gave me a reference number i went to EB and got a new copy.
    2nd time same thing!
3rd time finally worked, i activated it, but did not download it as i wanted to wait till the end of the month so my net does not slow.
finally end of the month comes, i turn steam on and BOOM its disappeared from my download list!
now steam support wants a pic of the game and code so they can verify i purchased it otherwise they wont have a look into why it disappeared.
i tell ya one thing, customer service is dead these days!
i thought it was only $ony, but a freaking mule could give out better customer support then the monkeys ive had to deal with in the past few months!
funny enough only decent customer support i have recieved happens to be from whos suppose to be the worst!
when my 360 scratched the hell out of crackdown 2 they sent me a new copy, AND a free copy of crackdown AND a free months gold access for a apology.
when my gears 2 GOTY code did not work, 2 days later they gave me a new one AND a code again for 1 months free gold access.
what has $ony given me for all the times & ways they have screwed me up?

then the worst thing i can NEVER install a game without having issues installing it.
BO for example i had to install 5 freaking times, the first 4 i got a error about half way through saying there was some missing data on the disk!
every time I tried to launch just cause 2 it would boot me back to steam!
these are why i hate steam!
yea it keeps everything organized, has a great download service, has achievements, cloud based.
but my god, what it gives, it takes 1000 fold!
death to steam, lets just go back to the old CD key and basic install!!!!!!!!!!
