As the multiplayer trend continues, even unexpected titles are adding the popular component to their overall package. The next big game’s apparently God of War IV, with PSM3 rumoring it’s to boast some sort of competitive online mode.
The mag says the game, which will be released in 2012, will feature an online co-op mode with Kratos and his dead brother Deimos.
“Why is it hot? It’s bringing double Kratos to the series,” reads the magazine (per Sillegamer), “GOW4 was confirmed to PSM3 mid-2011 by a reliable source, and rumours point to a multiplayer twist. Mad idea? Online co-op with a (possibly) dead Kratos and (very) dead brother Deimos teaming up to escape the afterlife.”
Although we should drink this rumor water with caution, there’s been indications in the past pointing towards this very thing. In March of 2011, God of War developer Sony Santa Monica posted a job opening for a “senior online programmer” to join the GoW team.
God of War 3 was released March 2010. Could we see the next big game early this year? I wouldn’t mind at all.
