Now that’s what I call a successful PC launch. And of course it was expected, as WoW has one of the most loyal fan followings anywhere. And to prove their loyalty, over 3.3 million hardcores purchased the title in 24hrs, making it the fastest selling PC title of all time.
That’s according to developer Blizzard, basing its claim “on internal company records and reports from key distribution partners” and “includes digital pre-sales.”
The previous record was held by the WoW expansion pack released back in November of 2008, Wrath of the Lich King, with that package selling more than 2.8 million copies sold in 24 hours.
According to Blizzard, more than 10,000 stores throughout the world opened at midnight for the launch.
Activsion continues to enjoy massive success, guys. Black Ops, and now this. Good for them.
