Square-Enix Announces Tomb Raider – The Full Quencher

Square-Enix’s just announced the latest game in the long-running Tomb Raider franchise, and it’s simply known as Tomb Raider.

The full quencher’s past the break.

Although there’s no date yet, we now know the reboot will be developed by Crystal Dynamics, the same studio that handled Guardian Of Light.

The game’s full reveal will come in the next issue of the popular Game Informer magazine, so look out for it on store shelves.

According to Square, we should “forget everything we know about the game, as the new Tomb Raider will see her “young and inexperienced” in a “journey of an ordinary woman who finds out just how far she must go in order to stay alive.”

Here’s an excerpt from the mag:

“In our world-exclusive cover story, we uncover a brand-new Lara Croft. Rebooting the Tomb Raider franchise through an origin story wasn’t so much a choice as an act of necessity, according to Crystal Dynamics. Drastic measures were needed. To build an entirely fresh Lara – a culturally relevant hero worth of the attention that once came so effortlessly – they must break her first. In this new adventure – simply titled Tomb Raider – a younger and inexperienced Lara Croft must endure both physical and emotional trauma to survive.”

  • Ernice Gilbert

I think I want this game, man.

  • ExclusivesMostly

Uncharted is a way better game and I’ll definitely get Uncharted 3 but I will also get this game. I’ve been hooked on tomb raider since Tomb Raider Underworld.

  • Ghost250

@Ernice Gilbert nah im not fan of tomb raider so i most likely wont like this one. and im sorry man i just cant help but rag on tomb raider, its just so funny

  • Ghost250

@ExlusivesMostly, oh heck yeah uncharted 3 is gonna be awesome

  • Ernice Gilbert

Man, I canNOT wait for Uncharted 3! VGAs anyone? AHH!

  • Ghost250

@Ernice Gilbert, man hoping they announce uncharted 3 at the VGA’s, that we know another ps3 exclusive is gonna be announced the next day. more games FTW!!!

  • Ernice Gilbert

@Ghost: Yeah man, I know you’re a huge Uncharted fan like all of us. but maybe, just maybe you should give the reboot a rent? At least that man.

  • Ernice Gilbert

@Ghost: Yeah. Uncharted 3 at the VGAs will kill! If it happens, the show’ll be over. Period. All else is dead. And as for the other game from Sony, I simply can’t wait How about a new Syphon Filter? I’d cry blood for it.

  • Ernice Gilbert

Don’t get me wrong, I’m also hyped for the showings from THQ, Bioware, Activision and the rest, but Uncharted 3 by far for me. By far.

  • Ghost250

@Ernice Gilbert , i dont know man last time i rented, it was that train wreck called enslaved, and we all know how i feel about that game, will see if i decide to rent this game.

  • Ernice Gilbert

LOL! Okay understood. I hope you give it a try : )

  • Ghost250

meh THQ cant make games to save their life, i literally do not find any of their games from their whole history to be any good, the only game i want to play from THQ is devils third.

  • Ernice Gilbert

You might be right there. Except enjoyed, for a time, Darksiders.

  • Ghost250

i cant stand darksiders, i wonder what bioware is making, me personally i really didn’t get into the mass effect series like everyone else did, but maybe this game will do it for me, and Activision ummmm…. i dont support activision

  • Ernice Gilbert

Oh no? Nick and I really enjoyed it. Yeah, I’m looking forward to what Bioware’s doing… And Acti… I know you don’t support them, and I understand and respect that. I want to see what the new Prototype is like, though.

  • Sole Survivor

I think Eidos almost killed the franchise, so I’m not sure what this one will be like. Unlike Ernice and Mostly, I’ll wait for the reveiws before I dive.

  • Joshua Tompkins

If they are really trying to improve it and make it better then I am all for it. The premise of this game sounds good.

  • Ernice Gilbert

    It does indeed.
