PS3 First-Party Devs Are Now Touching The Console’s “Full Potential”

by Ernice Gilbert on October 25th, 2010, under Hot, News, Sony

I live with my wife, (no children yet) and we spend quality time together everyday. So you’d expect me to know the woman better than most people, of course? Yeah, the same goes for Sony first-party developers according to Michael Denny, Sony’s VP of Worldwide Studios Europe.

He said although third party studios have done great on the console, and he praised them for that, it’s the first-party studios like Santa Monica, Naughty Dog, Polyphony Digital and the others that have really pushed the console, and now, according to him, they’re finally becoming masters of it.

“A big philosophy behind forming Worldwide Studios is that we can have a network of key first-party developers who are able to share ideas, best practice, thoughts – creatively and otherwise,” Denny said (via CVG).

Denny spoke of the great relationship between Naughty Dog and Sucker Punch to illustrate his point.

“I think the success of these studios is that a lot of them retain their independent views and creativity but lean on each other for support.

What’s exciting is that we’re five years into PS3 and developers are really starting to push PlayStation to its full potential… Then you later on top of that Move launching, then you layer onto that the potential of 3D.”

He concluded by adding now’s the time to be part of PlayStation, not only for gamers but for corporate as well.

“It’s exciting times to be involved in PlayStation.”

of course they are, takes a while to get all the tools ready but once you do it fires off.
got my beta code today for KZ3 so far am really enjoying it!
    the snow looks fantastic!
only thing i hate about it is the machiene guns are so powerful in comparison to the shotgun.
lost count how many times i have shot a enemy in the head with a shotgun to only have him turn around and shoot me with a machiene gun.
i thought A headshots were suppose to be a instant kill and B shotgun in general from close range is a instant kill.
shotguns need to be beefed up, make them one hit kills like they are in KZ2s campaign.
another thing it takes way too long to replenish your health.
i was almost dead, so i took cover and stayed there for like 50 seconds no one shot me and after that time i still was almost dead did not recover any health what so ever!
    WTF?
takes 2 seconds to loose 99% of your health but takes longer than 50 to regain .1% of your health.
another thing why did they change the upgrade system?
the one they had in KZ2 was perfect!
every level up you get a new ability, here you get a point and some abilities cost quite a few points so you could spend 10+ hours gaining points and still not have enough for a upgrade.
also before 1 skill was unlocked from start so was a secondary weapon, now you have to earn them.
so your walking around with no skills up against people who have several AND a secondary weapon.
now how the %$#@ is that fair!?

    yea its really cool.
hope they add some game modes and some maps to the beta as it goes along.
funny they have not announce the end date yet, they better not do what ubisoft did and announce its finish date 2 days before they close it!
