Yeah, the version of Xbox Live you didn’t pay a dime for is known as Xbox Live Silver, and the paid service, Gold. The latter remains the same, the former, though, it’ll now be known as Xbox Live Free.
This according to Xbox UK community boss Graeme “AceyBongos” Boyd who let loosed the information via twitter.
“Just been told that ‘Xbox LIVE Silver Membership’ will now officially be called ‘Xbox LIVE Free Membership’. The times they are a-changin…,” he said.
Times are changing is right.
Meanwhile, Xbox.com has received an extreme make-over, watch it through here.

what for?
unless there going to add some needed features to it, like free online than i really dont see the point in changing the name.
XBLA free sounds stupid too, does not effective explain the difference between it and gold.
meh, M$ have never been good at names i mean who ever thought of the name kinect?
or xbox?
my dog could come up with better names than that!
