If there’s one feature PS3 gamers would love to see come available on their shiny black console’s online service, it’s cross-game-chat. Earlier this year, the internet went crazy when we broke rumor concerning Sony’s intention when it finally decides to add the feature to PSN.
Gamers across the world were furious, flinging cuss words at Sony, barking things like “they’re becoming more like MS,” and what not.
Well, the giant’s mentioned the three words again, but this time, not much substance.
“We are constantly working on new services and features to enhance your PlayStation experience; however, Cross-Game Chat was not announced as a part of PlayStation Plus’ features,” Lex Scheuble, PSN Marketing Manager said over at the US PS Blog (via PSLS).
“We know that Cross-Game Chat is a functionality our fans are extremely interested in and we are always striving to improve the PlayStation Network experience and services.”
Extremely interested is the right way to put it, Mr. Scheuble, because according to some PS3 owners, that’s the one thing Xbox Live can boast it has that PSN doesn’t.
We’ll see what materializes, then, and since Sony’s striving for ways to make PlayStation Plus more attractive, you never know what a giant might do.

I like cross game chat, but I do not have to have it. I wish sony would just come out and say they can’t do it. I am sick of waiting and waiting because they can’t give a straight answer. So, as of right now, I am going to assume that they can’t do it and not worry about it.
“So, as of right now, I am going to assume that they can’t do it and not worry about it.” Same here.
hang on a sec he made that sound like from now on every new feature will be + exclusive!
o, boy sony your treading on thin ice here!
Yes, thin ice indeed. Did you create you GTUnit account yet?
nah not yet im having some problems with my ps3 ATM.
im trying to change the HDD over but cant because when i removed the HDD i install another and once i install the FW it goes into a indefinite loop.
got to wait till saturday so i can take my ps3 in and get my local repairer to see whats going on.
so i cant access PSN, the older FW works but when i tried to load 3.4.2 it just went into a indefinete loop and i had to reset the unit.
i can still play my games and everything so if he cant fix it i might leave it as is, im not going to pay sony the 250 bucks to fix something THEY CAUSED!
that is what im really starting to hate about sony this gen!
they rushed FW 3.4.2 out to block the jailbreaks and now its stuffing up legit units and if you want it fixed they charge you 250 bucks!
sony are lucky i dont have the time or the money otherwise id sue their ass!
Sorry to hear that man. Hope it gets fixed soon.
thanks im working on it myself to see whats going on, looks like a programming error since its going into a loop and never leaving.
maybe the idiot who programmed this put a semi colon at the end of a if statement, now that would be hilarious!
a friend of mine always told me, you never get a hardware company to do software, and you never get a software company to do hardware, now i know why!
