Individuals are not the only ones who make new year’s resolutions, companies who strive to be successful and outlay a clear plan for the future do the same so to kick off the 2010, Sqaure-Enix Boss, Yoichi Wada has issued a public statement outlining the company’s goal which according to him is “taking root.”
“In the near future, the rate of convergence between video games and other digital entertainment content will only continue to accelerate,” Wada said. “It is for that reason we will make 2010 a year of taking root, in which we use this environment of change as an opportunity for establishing a strong foothold with which to lead the global entertainment industry.”
So Wada is eying past the gaming industry and looking towards expanding his company’s reach to Hollywood? If so, “taking root” in 2010 would mean we won’t necessarily see any new IPs from the publishing giant but rather ventures that would give them a foothold in the movie industry; lofty goals there but hey, reach for the stars right?
