While Xbox One games like Forza 5 run at 1080p and 60 frames per second, the game-recording DVR in the console will record footage at a lower resolution and speed: 720p and 30 frames per second.
The news was confirmed by Microsoft’s Marc Whitten who recently spoke to IGN.
“Game DVR captures beautiful clips at 720p 30 [frames per second],” Whitten said. “Your clips are stored in the cloud. You’ll be able to see these clips in the Xbox One Guide, in your own game DVR collection and when you are looking at gamercards on the system.”
Sony hasn’t made known at what resolution and speed PS4 will capture gameplay footage.
