64-Bit Operation System Need For Some Frostbite 2 Games From 2013 Onwards

Frostbite 2 rendering architect Johan Andersson said through twitter that beginning next year, some games powered by Frostbite 2 will require a 64-bit OS.

“We’ll have Frostbite-powered games in 2013 that will _require_ a 64-bit OS. If you are on 32-bit, great opportunity to upgrade to Windows 8,” Andersson said in a tweet.

Why should you be concerned? Well, if you’re PC gamer, this means Battlefield 4, Mirror’s Edge 2, Bad Company 3 and all other DICE games will require the upgrade. Furthermore, EA has been making a point of using the engine to power many of its titles, including Black Box’s Need For Speed: The Run which was released last year, and the upcoming MOH: Warfighter being developed by Danger Close.

In the future, expect most of EA’s games to be powered by the tech.

does not nessessarily mean all games will require it, he said some.
it might be a little hard to upgrade to windows 8 now though because, well, its not out for another 5 months!
dont need it either XP, vista and windows 7 offer 64bit OS anyway.
its a bit late though, i mean all PCs came with 64bit OS YEARS ago!
its about freaking time games started taking advantage of it!
32bit is flawed in so many ways especially with its limitations on utilizing multiple core CPUs and worst of all it cant use any more than 3GBs of memory.
which is exactly why i cant believe its taken so long for this to happen, i mean 4GBs of RAM and a 64bit OS has been the standard for the cheapest PCs out there for 5 years now!
my 5 year old crappy toshiba notebook i bought for my mother came with 4GBs of RAM and back then it only cost me 500 bucks!

I like bf3 a ton now that I’m playing it on PC but I wouldn’t mind starting to level up at the same time everyone else does, not 7 months later.
