Sony now has under production a film based on Team Ico’s beloved PlayStation 2 adventure Shadow of the Colossus at one of its main productions houses, Sony Pictures, according to an exclusive Deadline report.
Josh Trank, the man behind this year’s Chronicle, has signed on to direct the live action adaptation and is currently looking for a scriptwriter, the report claims.
There’s no news on how soon the movie will arrive in theaters or who might be cast in the leading roles.
According to Deadline, Trank is separately developing two Marvel superhero franchises in Fantastic Four for Fox and the Spider-Man spinoff Venom for Sony Pictures, and he’s also working with Warner Bros on a comic book adaptation Red Star.
For those not in the know, “Shadow of The Colossus’ storyline focuses on a young man named Wander who enters a forbidden land. Wander must travel across a vast expanse on horseback and defeat sixteen massive beings, simply known as colossi, in order to restore the life of a girl named Mono. The game is unusual within the action-adventure genre in that there are no towns or dungeons to explore, no characters with which to interact, and no enemies to defeat other than the colossi.”

This is great news, I’ve seen ‘Chronicle’ several time and have enjoyed it.
