Through lawsuit, Namco Bandai Wins Right To Publisher Witcher 2 On Xbox 360

The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings Xbox 360 will be published by Namco Bandai and not THQ as developer and IP owner CD Projekt RED would have liked, after a French court ruled in the Japanese firm’s favor.

The dispute arose after Namco Bandai said CD Projekt RED agreed to allow it to publish the game on Xbox 360, but then turned and gave the publishing rights to THQ. CD Projekt claims the deal consisted of only the PC version of the game.

“We are not satisfied with the end of the verdict. The most important thing for us is, however, ending the dispute,”said CD Projekt RED’s Marcin Iwinski. He added that there shouldn’t be much financial difficulty to cancel with THQ as the deal was in its early stages.

The developer must act fast, too, as for every 15 days that rights haven’t been turned back to Namco Bandai, a fine of €15,000 per day will follow.

Thanks, Parkiet, Kotaku.

sad, a small studio like this working on such a awesome game having to spend half there budget switching publishers.
    pathetic!
dont think thats right, 50 bucks says namco have been greasing the wheels with big white sacks, THQ was the publisher for the PC version so they should be the publisher for the console version.
oh well, hopefully they put this behind them and get back to work on the witcher 3!
so wish i had time to play this game, only got about 20 hours in and freaking loving it!

should care, there having to blow so much money on this ridiculous crap they could be putting into the game!
not to mention time inside the studio would be much more constructive then time spent in the court house………..
