On Wednesday, Microsoft stood alongside the company its been working with for some time now, Israeli company PrimeSense, who designed the core 3D capture system from Project Natal.
Indeed, Redmond has begun in earnest to unveil what might be the biggest revolution in the gaming industry, with a climax being maximized at E3. A revolution PrimeSense has found itself in the middle of.
But company founder and CEO Inon Beracha feels blessed to be part of it, and has lauded Microsoft for taking such risks.
“Microsoft is a dream that came through for us. It’s an honour to work with them,” Inon Beracha told Digital Foundry. “What we can share is that our visions are aligned… And you can give lots of credit to them, it’s not trivial to roll out this kind of technology, this kind of vision, and to be the first one to do it. In this market, it’s a big step.”
He also said that Redmond took his company’s raw technology and simply did “magic” with it. Microsoft instantly “got it”, he said.
“I really want to compliment them in the highest way. You could see at the other side of the room that they ‘got it’ immediately, and they did magic with it. They knew how to take this technology in its raw form and create the surrounding eco-system and supporting software in order to make it what it is – which is Natal, far more than the raw technology. The match was a rare case of perfect synergy between two partners.”
Natal will be available later in the year, around fall. THQ said today it’s considering a $40 million project for the revolutionary device.
