For Square-Enix, Admission Is The Best Cure

by Ernice Gilbert on February 15th, 2010, under Playstation 3, Square-Enix, Xbox 360

Over the weekend, some pics surfaced online showing PS3 and Xbox 360 screens of Final Fantasy XIII side-by-side with little to no difference. But some eyes took a closer look at the pics and realized that they were doctored so the Xbox 360 version could appear the same as PS3’s. But what’s even worst was the fact the that none other than Square-Enix themselves released the screens.

What can you do when you’re caught red handed? Nothing much really, the only healing would be to tell the truth. The publishing giant did just that. Good move I reckon.

“Unfortunately, we did mistakenly include screenshots taken for pre-production (non promotional use only) in our latest release of assets,” this according to a Square-Enix statement.

“Screenshots from the final game intended for the press kit will be released shortly. As shown in our recent demo tour and Microsoft’s X-10 event, there is no material difference between the two consoles.”

Share your thoughts. It seems the game is being promoted heavily on the Xbox 360 compared to PS3, but it needs it. Looking at this will make you understand why.

Thanks, Kotaku.
